My interest in TV production began as a studio audience member at The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, the Dick Cavett, Merv Griffin and David Susskind Shows.

It was all very cool!

When I started college, I took a television production class on a whim. I was immediately captivated by the Control Room buzz and couldn’t get enough of it. That was my “ah hah” moment! I looked forward to that production class each week….and enrolled in every TV class my college offered.

A highly selective two-year Graduate TV Internship and Master’s Degree followed and solidified my career path into television. Directing an EMMY winning series immediately afterwards led to a job offer and an eleven-year venture in live network television news at ABC News. Production responsibilities included writing, directing and editing. As an Associate TV Director, I enjoyed working with Peter Jennings, Charlie Gibson, Diane Sawyer and others on ABC’s nightly live evening news broadcast, World News Tonight. Other assignments included Nightline and a variety of Breaking News Special Events… from space launches and election coverage to State of the Union addresses. Two of my most intense memories…. coordinating the live feed and broadcast of the American Iranian hostages being led blindfolded and tied before cameras…and the fall of the Berlin Wall while on the air with Prime Time Live!

When I decided to relocate my residence to CT from NY, I also decided to trade in my staff position in favor of starting my own production business and Reel Communications was born. I continued an ongoing and long-term free-lance relationship with ABC while also expanding my scope and range of production and directing credentials.

I directed several series as well as individual shows for A&E Television Networks, Nickelodeon, Animal Planet, HBO, Comedy Central, Biography, History Channel, Lifetime, WNET-TV and others.

Somewhere in between I spent a year as the Managing Director of East Coast Production for a pioneering financial news outfit called Financial News Network - FNN. There I directed a number of series startups and also managed a staff of Directors, AD’s and Graphic Artists.

Corporate TV also came beckoning. Unbeknownst to some, live corporate TV can rival the networks in terms of equipment, sophistication, and complexity. I produced and directed live multi-camera town halls and projects, both domestic and international originations, for many Fortune 100 companies- Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, New York Life, American Express, Priceline, General Motors and IBM- to name a few. Please see a complete list under the Corporate tab on this site.

Still directing…but have added a new chapter to my career as an Adjunct Professor at several universities. I teach Studio TV Production- both introductory and advanced classes- as well as Broadcast News Production. I absolutely love it and enjoy sharing my real-life experience and knowledge with students pursuing careers in TV. I can still picture and feel the awe I experienced as a student…and am thoroughly enjoying paying forward the spark and delight of this industry!
